Eat That Frog

“If the first thing you do each morning is eat a frog, then nothing worse can happen for the rest of the day.” (Mark Twain)

Now the thought of eating a frog doesn't sound too appealing does it? This metaphor is a great way to consider how we prioritise our lives. Frogs are the hard tasks. The things that we want to avoid and can end up procrastinating on. It could be a report to write, a difficult conversation, cleaning the house, filing the tax return…

These frogs have the ability to linger around, pile on stress, weigh us down and may even end up eating us! The key is to identify the hard tasks and tackle them straight away. Look at your ‘to-do-list,’ circle the frog and get stuck in.

The key is to eat the frogs first thing in the morning, and preferably early in the week. It’s easy to avoid frogs and spend time on the ‘nice to do’s.’ So before you open up the emails, scroll the social media or watch YouTube clips…. Eat That Frog! You’ll have more energy and time for the important things in life - such as family, friends…. and coaching of course!
